Virtual Workshop: How Culturally Competent Are You?
Regardless of racial and cultural background, this 60-minute virtual workshop is designed to help participants get a sense of how aware they are of their own worldview, how they view cultural differences, and how much they embrace different cultural practices and perspectives using the PERM Cultural Competence Framework.
Developed by Dr. Kiara Butler, the PERM Cultural Competence Framework provides insight on your ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures. the framework is broken down into four core dimensions that impact our day-to-day interactions: Power, Empathy, Relationships, and Mindset.
During this workshop, participants will:
Develop a deeper understanding of how societal messages and norms influence our cultural competence level.
Reflect on cultural norms, biases, behaviors, and how these factors may impact other people.
Develop a common language using the multidimensional rubric of the PERM Cultural Competence Framework.
